The European HyFIVE project for fuel cell vehicles launched 185 innovative vehicles and built six new refueling stations, transforming some European cities into pioneers of hydrogen mobility.

The HyFIVE project, coordinated by the Greater London Authority and funded by the European Union, was a European initiative to promote fuel cell vehicles. Launched in April 2014, it ran for 42 months. The project involved 15 partners, including car manufacturers and hydrogen technology providers, deploying 185 vehicles and building six new refueling stations in cities such as London, Copenhagen, and Innsbruck. The Institute [AT1] for Technological Innovations (IIT) in Bolzano, now IIT Hydrogen, played a key role by managing a refueling station and a fleet of fuel cell vehicles, as well as coordinating activities in Bolzano, Innsbruck, Stuttgart, and Munich.
