It is no coincidence that the IIT Hydrogen headquarters has been chosen as the ideal venue for the launch of the new Hyundai NEXO. The event serves as tangible confirmation of how the company – in which Alperia and Autostrada del Brennero hold stakes – has established itself as a key player in hydrogen mobility, both nationally and across Europe.
As part of the celebrations marking the tenth anniversary of the Green Energy Center Europe, IIT Hydrogen hosted a high-profile international delegation. The meeting was attended by specialist journalists, representatives from Hyundai Austria and Hyundai Switzerland, as well as representatives from FEN Systems and the Green Energy Center Europe–Codex Group partnership.
During the guided tour of the IIT Hydrogen centre, the delegation examined the company’s entire integrated supply chain: from production and storage facilities to the refuelling station, where the new Hyundai NEXO carried out a zero-emission demonstration refuelling, highlighting the vehicle’s efficiency, safety and technological speed.
The day also provided an important opportunity for discussion and exchange of views on the current state and future of hydrogen mobility in Europe and Italy, and in particular on the strategic role of the Brenner Hydrogen Corridor as a key logistics axis for cross-border decarbonisation, the development of the refuelling infrastructure network and the related short- and medium-term market prospects; and, finally, the main technological and regulatory challenges that the sector will have to face in the coming years in order to achieve European sustainability targets.
